Uinta Brewing Co. - King's Peak Porter

This porter from Utah's Uinta Brewing Co. is named after that state's highest mountain. It's a traditional, robust porter that took bronze at this year's Great American Beer Festival.

Uinta's beers are available throughout the Rocky Mountain states, the Pacific Northwest and along the East Coast.

4% ABV

Dark brown in color and  nearly opaque with a warm copper-brown glow. Modest cream head that leaves sticky lacing. Holding it up to light reveals a steady upward flow of very small bubbles.

King's Peak has a rich, sweet malty aroma. There's also an underlying sticky, fruity scent of caramelized fruit. Whiffs of a light, smoky wood... bourbon barrel.

Taste & Feel

Leads off with a dry bite that mellows into a silky blend of flavors. Robust, lightly smoky malt with hints of espresso up front, changing to a dark fruitiness. Subtle earthy hops present throughout.

It has a medium body that provides a rich, creamy mouthfeel with a clean, dry finish.

Pretty good.  I'm looking forward to enjoying another with tonight's beef stew.
