A few weeks ago, my neighbor brought over a six pack of Howl, and I've been slowly savoring this black lager ever since.
Howl has a very dark brown color and is nearly opaque, with a jewel-like appearance around the edges. It is capped with a pillowy, tan head.
The aroma is sweet and malty, with dusty cocoa notes.
Taste & Feel
This is a flavorful beer. It is rich and sweet, with roasted coffee and cocoa flavors. A light smoky taste with a touch of earthy hops. round out the flavors. It's medium bodied with a rather aggressive carbonation that tingles across the lips and tongue. Howl has a coffee finish.
A great fall brew. Definitely a campfire beer.
